The mobiBLU DAH-1500i taunts me.

First of all, let me just say that I thoroughly love my iPod Shuffle even more than I thought I would. The tiny, lightweight combination thumbdrive / mp3 player design is incredibly elegant, and the sound quality is fantastic. Sure, it doesn't have a screen, so navigation beyond the first couple dozen tracks can be a hassle (especially when you have a couple hundred), but frontloading your playlist with what you most often want to listen to largely solves that - and otherwise it's kinda cool to just take the hint and set it to shuffle, and enjoy something akin to your own private radio station that just plays music you like.

That said... I must admit I'm tantalyzed by the tinier (one cubic inch!) DAH-1500i mp3 player from South Korea's mobiBLU. Granted, it has a completely forgettable name, but includes an OLED display, multi-playlist navigation, and FM radio - at the same price points of the iPod Shuffle ($130/1GB, $100/512MB - though Shuffles are currently $5 off on Amazon, with free shipping). It seems to be sold semi-exclusively through Wal-Mart.com in the U.S., and comes in six colors. (I4U recently gave it a favorable review with lots of pictures.)

I have recently purchased the Mobiblu DAH-1500I (although i had to wait because it had intially sold out) and I must say this little guy sure has some UMPH! to it. Measuring at 1 in. by 1 in. by far the smallest mp3 player i've ever seen. It comes in 6 different colors and has a nice bright OLEDisplay. Sound Quality is pretty good, with the WOW feature and enhanced BASS along with 6 preset EQ. settings. Upload time is a snap and battery life is fairly good at about 10 hours after a full charge and constant use. Definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a very portable mp3 player that's user friendly.

Have you tried it out with any of the music subscription services like Napster-To-Go, Rhapsody-To-Go, or Yahoo Unlimited? I was hoping it would work with these "music rental" services.

I have not tried it with those services mentioned. It plays mp3, WMA, and WMA DRM. It works fine with Walmart Music Downloads(and it should since it's exclusivly sold at Walmart.com)I've read other blogs and reviews on this item and they mentioned that it was not possible to use with Napster or Yahoo Unlimited. I'll give it a try someday and let you know personally.

It works with Napster (ripoff), MSN Music, Wal-Mart DL and almost anything else WMA DRM enabled. There's a lot more info on the player here:

...the official mobiBLU site is a bit cryptic.

According to Team MobiBlu

"The DAH-1500i is not compatible with SUBSCRIPTION BASED services, such as NapsterToGO, Yahoo, and Rhapsody. Subscription based services are where you pay a monthly fee for all the music you can download but you never own the music...you are actually leasing the music. The moment your subscription runs out or you stop payment, you lose all legal rights to the on your PC and your portable device, and everything is automatically enabled so that you can't play it anymore. Again, the DAH-1500i does not support subscription based services. "
